As a Tank or Necro DC Caster, I think you’ll be fine.

In fact I’ve seen really impressive Tank PM builds in the past, Staffy ran one and sat there tanking the Shadows in Reaper Killing Time IIRC. Triple Healing Aura’s go a huge way to just topping up your HP almost instantly.

On the Melee DPS side, I think you have alot of trade offs for Casting and Tank side: No single stat To-Hit and Damage, no Trance, no Critical Power improvements, no Attack Speed bonus out of Vanguard, no EK Tier 5 for that wonderful exploding Cleave, and no Melee orientated Destiny providing base line Melee Power and other DPS improvements.

At the very least I would throw all that AP from FeyDark illusionist into Harper to pick up Int To-Hit and Damage and Know the Angles. Which sucks because you lose GCS, which is a phenomenal CC spell, and you’d be trading it out for Dire Charge really.

The upside of all this is you have Mass Hold, and whether you use Dire Charge, Mass Hold or GCS for your prime CC I would at least twist in Sense Weakness so you get the most out of the helpless damage you can.

The final thing to think about here is if you need to hold threat against turbo nutter DPS builds. You’ll be very reliant on gear to build any kind of usable Intim, and you don’t have much/any +Threat% on Melee DPS or Spell DPS output from the Build. Rend the Soul goes a long way to helping, but it doesn’t work on some raid targets you want to tank. So, again you’ll be relying on gear for +Threat.

I’m not sure you would hold aggro against that irritating THF KotC Paladin guy that just won’t turn off Sacred Defense, when they run around Exalted Smiting on the opening attack with +150% Threat on top of that huge Critical he just scored. And I wouldn’t know ANYTHING about said such turbo nutter builds *cough cough* 😀 😀 😀

PM tanks can be really good raid tanks, the self healing for 2-3k every couple of seconds is really nice. Up to R8 i found comfortable,in none raids, above that and you needed other sources of heals. The good thing is the dust\ash debuffs that you create when mobs are inside your auras. I do have a new setup of the PM, that i will be doing next life, as there is an increase to Dc’s with Fey gear, and ill have 40 twists this time, so can be more flexible with them. I encourage anyone to try this, it is good fun. R3 shadows and you just stand there with auras and cold absorb, and 5k HP and don’t drop below 1\2 HP. Being able to cc\insta kill a quest, then switch a few gear slots and then tank the end boss, and provide good debuffs is legendary.

thnx charlie, that is indeed my intention. I should prolly get myself salt and dust soon.

Saw you 149 DC was that standing or with boosts, I get up to 137 standing in reaper. so just curious if I’m missing something mayor
